Folk, Draw, Write, Repeat: Theology Meets Folklore!
"A Folklorist's Guide to Pastoral Theology" is now live!
Hello, Repeaters! It is approaching mid-December, and here in seminary, that means Advent is halfway done, and the fall term has come to an end.
It just so happens that one of my professors, the Rev. Dr. Dave Csinos, allowed and encouraged me to create a zine for my Pastoral Foundations course. During my first academic semester as a student in over 15 years, I’ve learned something I should have done more often: wrap your head around the questions you’re asking yourself. During my Pastoral Foundations course, I kept asking “How can what I’ve done over the last couple of decades shape what I do now?” More importantly, how can I integrate pastoral theology into my own work as a culture worker?
The result was A Folklorist’s Guide to Pastoral Theology- a 32-page zine that looks at how folklore work and pastoral work intersect. Inspired by the four tasks of pastoral theology by Richard Osmer, and the voices of fellow folklorists involved in religious life and work, I am happy to share this with you all finally! If you like it, please consider donating to my project, or becoming a monthly or yearly subscriber.
thanks!
Nic/Nico-Maria
